Five Quick Questions - Matthew Joule

Five quick fire questions on working in the sports industry with Matthew Joule, Press & Communications Officer at the DP World Tour & Ryder Cup.

1 - Who is your sports business inspiration?

This is perhaps not so relevant now he has retired, but Sir Alex Ferguson. I am not a Manchester United fan but the way he led that club for so many years is a true inspiration. He is everything a leader should be and more.

2 - Name an organisation in sport we should be following and why?

The DP World Tour! This is a slightly biased answer but I believe we are truly the market leaders across a number of different functions; on the course innovation, diversity with our Golf for the Disabled Tour, and our critically-acclaimed Original and Branded Content.

3 - What is your top recommendation for great sports industry content?

Our content is elite. Rather than explain why, take a look at some of our best pieces:
- Golf Psycho
- The Content Committee
- Angry Golfers

4 - What is the biggest thing you have learned from your career in sports so far?

Sport is special. It makes people’s dreams come true. It helps people through tough times and it gives people moments they will never forget.

5 - Finally, your one non-negotiable for anyone looking to get into a career in sports?

Immerse yourself in it and enjoy it. It’s the best industry in the world so if you can’t enjoy it, it’s not for you.
